Building Your Network Marketing Business

Building your Network Marketing business online can be tough! I tried and failed several times and you know why? Just because I kept listening to idiots who weren’t even that successful. First of all I dealt with information overload, SERIOUS information overload. When I first got online, I was told to get a blog, create a capture page, get an autoresponder and to learn 101 different marketing strategies. It was overwhelming to say the least, and after 3 months I was completely burnt out.

Stuffed with information that barely made sense to me, I was sick and tired of Internet Marketing. So I began my voyage to find a simple yet effective way of building my Network Marketing business online. I wanted leverage which was one of the main reasons I got involved in the industry. So leverage I got…

To cut a long and over told story short, I mastered Internet Marketing and am now able to build my business on total autopilot, while banking 6 figure checks walking the beaches of the world. So that’s just a little something to say why you should listen to me, now over the next couple of paragraphs I’m going to reveal exactly how to build a Network Marketing business online. This is going to be highly comprehensive and broken down into 2 parts.

In order to build a Network Marketing business online, you need a solid system. A system that generates leads, builds relationships, makes money and pre-sells your primary business opportunity. A system basically consists off of a capture page, a thank you page; opt in bait, an autoresponder, an instant profit centre, multiple products and automated presentations.

Lots of stuff I know, but once you set your system up properly, you only need to fuel it with traffic. When you do that it should build relationships, make money and practically sponsor people into your primary MLM company on autopilot. Fascinating stuff I know…

To begin with you need to map out your entire system. You need a capture page and you need a piece of opt in bait. Your capture page works in conjunction with a piece of opt in bait and an autoresponder. Your autoresponder is software that automatically collects people’s information like names and email addresses. Your capture page is the page that offers something for free in return for visitor’s information. A simple trade of information.

Opt in bait is something you wave in front of visitors to entice them to join your list.  Once you have your capture page setup and everything configured with your autoresponder, you just need traffic. So it works like this:

Traffic >>>> Opt in bait + Capture page x Autoresponder = Leads

First of all, you need a piece of opt bait that will entice visitors to give you their personal information. Opt in bait can be anything like a free report on Search Engine Marketing or a video series about sponsoring MLM distributors. As long as it’s super high quality and would appeal to your target prospects, nothing else matters. Next you need an autoresponder. Your autoresponder is like the core of your system. It’s the technology that allows you to build and manage email lists.

I personally use Aweber, but there are plenty of alternatives. In your autoresponder you’re able to create a list. Once you’ve done that, you can grab a form that asks for a name and email address. You can then put that form on your capture page and “capture” leads. Of course, there’s some tech stuff involved, but you can work out the minor details. Essentially, it just has to say “Hey, I have this great opt in bait on the next page, just fill out the form and get it free”. When that’s all setup, you can begin to generate leads. But why do that when the rest of your system isn’t ready?

The next component to a successful system is a high quality thank you page. There’s several ways you can use a thank you page. Really, you just want it to welcome your new subscribers. To tell them they’re in a good place now and they’re going to learn a ton of cool stuff. That kind of talk…

Also, you should use it to say “Opt in bait X is being sent to your inbox right now”. I’d recommend creating a video saying exactly that. You can also use it to link to a presentation. A presentation that will put money in your pocket, I.E. an instant profit centre.  Instant profit centers allow you to put money in your pocket straight away. They’re stuff you sell to instantly monetize new subscribers. It took me a long time to learn this. You absolutely must attempt to monetize subscribers on the thank you page right after they join your list. You just shouldn’t be too pushy about it.

Before I talk about the IPC’s, I need to mention the first email you send out. The first email that goes out to your list is crucial. You need to use it to brand yourself, build a relationship, deliver opt in bait and also promote an IPC. Make sure your first email rocks, or people won’t like you. It’s as simple as that.

Now what the heck is an IPC and how can you use one to make fast cash?

Well an IPC is a product/service or tool you sell to your subscribers to put instant cash in your pocket. As we should all know by one, leading with your MLM company is the wrong way to go about building your business. Seriously, people hate being sold to and I am sick of telling people that. People will only join your MLM company if they believe that it will greatly enhance their lifestyle.

I actually used to persuade my relatives and close friends to join my downline. Even people I met in the super market. The result was people reluctantly joining and leaving within their first 3 months. So after people join your list, you need to sell them an inexpensive information product. Why information products? Well because they sell well, are low cost and can be instantly delivered.

Really, you need to sell something that pre sells your opportunity and the idea of striking it rich in Network Marketing. You should sell something Network Marketing related. A course, membership program or a short report on building a business. Or maybe a webinar series, any high quality information product that your subscribers will thank you for. I believe that you should sell one of your own products. But since you probably don’t have your own product, you can sell someone else’s.

There’s plenty of stuff to sell online, look around. I personally would sell Magnetic Sponsoring or MLSP. Both are Network Marketing courses that teach people how to build their businesses. Once you’ve found something to sell, you need a way of selling it. I don’t give a damn what you’ve been told, you need to use video! You need to create a video presentation promoting your IPC product.

Your video should first out line your prospect’s problems and really stress how bad they are. Then you need to paint a picture of what it would be like if your prospects bought the IPC product. That’s essentially all you have to do. There are really 3 ways of selling stuff, online:

1. Teaching The What & Selling The How.

2. Teaching The How & Selling The What.

3. Teaching The What, The How & Selling The Tools To Do So.

Those 3 strategies are worth fortunes! Shhhh… don’t spread my secrets! So create a video presentation that sells your IPC product and get it online. Create a page and have an image below the video appear after a set time linking to the sales page. It’s important to use a strong call to action in your presentation. Yah, I missed out a few things, but as I’ve said before I’m not a tech support guy. You can look up that stuff for yourself.

Now take the link to your video presentation and insert it into your welcome email that first goes out to your list. Generally, I’ll put the link at the top of the email and also at the bottom in a PS line. This doesn’t come across as pushy. It keeps people happy and it also makes sales.

Next you should go back to your opt in bait and add a strong call to action at the end linking to your IPC product presentation. So when people join your list, they get their free opt in bait and they also read about you. A lot of trust is built and they identify you as an expert after reading your opt in bait. They then see a link to the IPC, watch the presentation and put money in your pocket. All without any sleazy “pitchyness”.

The last thing you need to do is create a follow up series to send out to your subscribers. You should really write a few free reports and videos using the 3 selling strategies above to promote your IPC. The real secret that took me years to figure out, is that you can sell through content. Through education. Teach people what they can use to solve their problem. Teach them how to use it and sell them the tools to do so. Or one of the other strategies, but #3 works best.

The key is to build a relationship and establish trust between you and your subscribers. When people trust you, they’ll run errands for you, watch/read your stuff and buy anything you recommend. Think about it…

If some guy on TV or on the street tries to sell you something, the chances are you won’t buy it unless you’re in dire need of a solution for whatever problem you have. However, if someone you know, like and trust tells you to buy something, you will full stop. Common sense right?

Anyway, after some trust is built up over around a 2 week period and you’ve made some cash with your instant profit center, it’s time to introduce your MLM company. For years Networkers have experimented with different “exposing strategies”, some worked better than others. I personally have tried and test dozens of them. Overall, I’d recommend the number 1 way of sponsoring people to be presentations. Video presentations and live webinars. It’s my belief that webinars convert better than anything else imaginable.

Before you create presentations and start webinars, you need a second email list for your MLM prospects. The guys who join your email list will be as generic as they come. Just normal people who’re learning about Network Marketing. You can’t pitch them on your MLM company without looking like a total ass. The only way to do it is to make them think that it’s their idea to get involved. All starting with a second email list for MLM prospects.

When people join your MLM prospects list, you can hammer them hard with company presentations and direct pitches. As they asked for the information, we’re not shoving it down their throat like most people do. So setup a new capture page that doesn’t reveal anything about your company, but an opportunity to join your inner circle and work closely with you to create financial freedom. That sounds pretty appealing right? Well set up a capture page that says something like that and use it to funnel generic subscribers into your MLM prospects list.

After they opt in to your MLM prospects list, you can redirect them straight to a video presentation or webinar registration link. As much as I like webinars, they are a pain in the ass. They are time consuming and they take a lot of preparation. BUT, they convert better than anything else. Webinars are live events; attendees will feel as if they’re in the same room as you. They’ll also feel as if they’re part of a group of like minded people.

In your video presentations/webinars you should do the same stuff I mentioned for the IPC presentation. Outline financial problems, talk about the government, taxes, unemployment, and then tell a story. Explain how by getting involved in your exclusive team and sharing your opportunity with others, you’re able to create financial freedom and work from home. Yada yada yah….

Then at the very end you need a rock solid call to action that entices prospects to join now. Not to sit around and think about it, as people always 9/10 times justify why they shouldn’t join you. That they don’t have enough time or money or that it’s just not for them. All those bull shit excuses which you should rip apart in your presentations. Tell people to join by midnight and they’ll get access to a load of exclusive bonuses.

That’s how to build a Network Marketing business online! The only thing I didn’t cover was fuelling your system and duplication. Of course, your system will be nothing unless you can fuel it with tons of traffic. There are a million and one ways of driving traffic online. Just do a couple of searches or even check my blog, there are countless traffic generation strategies that are damn right easy to implement into your every day marketing.

As for duplication, you need another system. A training system new reps can plug into for immediate help. You gotta create videos that teach your reps how to generate traffic, leads, prospect and how to close. You should also provide them with sufficient marketing material. My ultimate strategy is to close prospects for my team. Through live webinars and video presentations.

The Future Of SEO

Sites losing Page Rank, pages falling іn thе rankings аnd entire domains being de-indexed. Wе’re living іn scary times аnd thе face οf search engine optimization іѕ rapidly evolving. Back іn thе day, SEO wаѕ really simple. I mean іt didn’t take much аt аll tο rank well іn thе search engines. Thеrе wаѕ easy money tο bе mаdе back whеn search engines first emerged. The Future Of SEO

All уου hаd tο dο wаѕ write аn article, repeatedly stuff іt wіth keywords аnd уου’d rank fοr thеm. Fаѕt forward two decades аnd іt gοt a lіttlе more complex. Yου hаd tο hаνе solid On-page SEO being lots οf solid content, keyword іn title, description, header tags аnd lots οf internal linking.

Thеn уου јυѕt hаd tο throw a few backlinks аt уουr site аnd іt wουld rank іn thе search engines. Eνеr ѕіnсе thе Google panda update whісh wasn’t tοο long ago, things hаνе changed. Automated SEO tools really don’t work аѕ well аѕ thеу used tο. Google hаѕ massively devalued mοѕt types οf backlinks.

Yου used tο bе аblе tο сrеаtе a bunch οf web2.0 properties manually, link thеm tο уουr site аnd hey presto, thе traffic wουld flood іn. Google hаѕ sort οf obliterated thе power web2.0′s once hаd; thеу’ve аlѕο devalued thе power οf article directory links. It’s quite obvious whу:

Thеѕе properties саn easily bе abused bу simple bots аnd scripts… And аt thе еnd οf thе day Google wаntѕ tο рυt gοοd content іn front οf іtѕ users. It саn’t dο thаt whеn idiots аrе spamming article directories, web2.0′s, blogs, forums аnd more. Sο SEO really іѕ changing.

Social SEO іѕ now essential.

Dіd уου know thаt Google аnd οthеr search engines аrе using social data tο influence уουr site’s rankings? Here аrе јυѕt a few οf thе factors (social аnd οn-page):

  1. Hοw User Friendly Yουr Site Iѕ
  2. Load Time
  3. Bounce Rate
  4. Time Spent On Site
  5. Number Of Followers
  6. Number Of Tweets
  7. Number Of Fans
  8. Number Of Google Plus’s
  9. Number Of Facebook Comments
  10. Bookmarks
  11. Quality Of Content
  12. Grammar

I’m sure thеrе аrе others I failed tο mention, bυt those аrе ѕοmе οf thе key factors Google аnd οthеr engines hаνе ѕtаrtеd tο υѕе іn thеіr ranking algorithm. It freaks mе out quite frankly. Aѕ I hаνе sites thаt aren’t full οf quality content, bυt thеу gеt a lot οf traffic аnd mаkе ѕοmе change. Sο аrе backlinks screwed?

Future Of SEONο, nοt аt аll. Thеу аrе still thе main algorithm factor аѕ far аѕ I’m concerned аnd thеу ѕhουld bе fοr a long time. Bυt уου need tο stay up tο date wіth thіѕ stuff аnd bе ready fοr whеn thе shit hits thе fan. Aѕ SEO іѕ slowly evolving. I know frοm personal experience, mу sites aren’t ranking nearly аѕ well аѕ thеу used tο frοm traditional link building.

Google іѕ really hammering down οn backlinks thаt саn bе artificially сrеаtеd аnd thе power thеу hold tο influence rankings. People аrе even saying spun content іѕ dead. It nο longer works аѕ Google’s “figured іt out”. Whіlе I don’t totally agree wіth іt, I’m sure thеrе’s ѕοmе truth іn іt. Sο іt looks lіkе уου need tο spend a fortune οn уουr οff site SEO. Seriously… people аrе suggesting уου write аnd submit 1 unique article fοr 1 backlink.

Nο spinning, nο nothing. It’s scary аѕ I саn see іt happening іn thе near future. I know I’ve seen a dip іn mу site’s rankings thаt hаνе bаd content. I don’t hаνе solid proof tο back thіѕ up… bυt I believe Google hаѕ developed a basic grammar checking algorithm tο weed out spun content.

Sο whаt’s thе conclusion?

Focus οn аmаzіng content! I don’t јυѕt mean thе kind οf content thаt passes copyscape οr hаѕ nο spelling/grammar mistakes. I mean thе kind οf content thаt attracts lots οf natural social SEO. I don’t mean natural backlinks, аѕ уου really aren’t going tο gеt many οf those. I mean social SEO being Facebook shares, Tweets, bookmarks аnd Google +1′s.

Yου need tο focus οn optimizing уουr site ѕο іt’s super user friendly, hаѕ a fаѕt load time аnd a low bounce rate. Yου need tο mаkе уουr content stand out, don’t over crowd уουr site wіth ads. Yουr content area needs tο bе thе mοѕt prominent. Yου аlѕο need tο focus οn internal linking аnd getting visitors tο checkout multiple pages. On top οf thаt carefully рlасе social buttons ѕο visitors саn share уουr content.

Thе more sharing thаt goes οn, thе more authoritative уουr site becomes.

…Qυісk recap:

  1. Focus On SUPERB Content
  2. Mаkе Yουr Site Ultra User Friendly
  3. Decrease Load Time
  4. Mаkе Content Mοѕt Prominent Element
  5. Internal Linking…
  6. Social Buttons

On top οf аll οf thаt, I’d mаkе sure уου hаνе a dedicated Twitter account fοr еνеrу site уου οwn аnd a Facebook fan page. Jυѕt remember thаt SEO іѕ becoming more social daily аnd іt really іѕ thе future οf search engine optimization… (In mine аnd many οthеr’s opinions)

P.P.S. Lеt mе know уουr thουghtѕ, comments аnd qυеѕtіοnѕ іn thе box below!

Running a WordPress blog takes a lot of time. You know… posting fresh content, updating your blog’s look from time to time, handling the comments, replying to them. Then there’s the promotional side, building backlinks and all that stuff. Anyway, I recently came across Facebook comments.

It immediately caught my attention as who wouldn’t want Facebook commenting on their blog? I mean, the original WordPress commenting system is OK and all… But In my opinion, it’s kind of bland and simply boring. So I thought I’d spice up my blog by installing Facebook comments. You know what happened?

A dramatic increase in overall commenting. Yeah, it was pretty nice. So I thought I’d show everyone how to install facebook comments on a WordPress blog. So in conclusion on the whole reason why you should install Facebook comments:

  • It looks bad ass
  • It increases comment activity
  • It adds more of a “social” look to your site
  • It generates traffic!
  • Less spam

Clearly, installing it is a no brainer. Thing is, when I first tried to install Facebook comments I ran into a couple of obstacles. You can actually install Facebook comments manually or you can use a WordPress plugin. I vote for the plugin as doing it manually involves some theme editing. You know, html crap and if you me at all, you’ll know I’m really not that tech savvy. So follow the steps below and you’ll have Facebook comments up and running within the next 10 minutes!

1. Create A Facebook App

I have no idea why this is necessary, but it has to be done. Go here and create your app. When you load that page, just login to your Facebook account if you’re not already logged in. You’ll be brought to this page… just follow the instruction:

Facebook App

Next, you need to fill out a few details. Name the app whatever you like. I’d just name it after your website and the same goes for the description:

Facebook App

Once done, save the changes. Then go to the website tab where you need to fill in the URL and domain fields.

Facebook App

Make sure you enter your URL correctly including the / at the end. That’s all you have to do for the App creation part. When you’re on that page, take note of your application ID and Secret. Save them in your notepad or something.

2. Install Facebook Comments Plugin

There are a couple of different WordPress plugins for Facebook comments. From what I can tell, they are all pretty much the same. The one that worked for me is called Facebook Comments For WordPress. You can download it here, then just upload it to your blog.

3. Edit Plugin Settings

Really simple to do, I even took a screenshot of my settings for you. Of course, you’ll find the plugin settings under the WordPress settings tab. There are several other settings that the image doesn’t show you, but these are the key ones you mustn’t miss.

Facebook Comments Settings

On the settings page, you need to enter your Facebook application ID and Secret. Also, you can take a look at my other settings. I use the new Facebook commenting system. There’s V1 and V2 right now, not sure if there’s any difference between them. I’d say just keep it as new. Also, make you you tick the include Facebook comments on blog.

If you want to hide WordPress’s default commenting system altogether, tick the second box. You can play around with the other settings as you please. One other setting that’s vital is the comment box width. You’ll find that setting if you scroll down the page a little. You should adjust the width according to your blog post’s width.

That’s about it. There’s also a colour scheme choice, there’s a dark and light option. I would go with light, but it’s up to you. I feel that the Facebook commenting system is about to explode. I’m sure it will be practically mandatory for a successful blog within the next year or two. There are also a couple of other benefits.

Way less spam! I hate spammers. I mean, how am I supposed to build a relationship with someone called “cheap Viagra”, or “how to get my ex back”. In all honestly, they get on my nerves and I keep trying to fight them off with expensive “combat spam” plugins. You’ll find that if you turn off the default WordPress commenting system and activate Facebook comments, you’ll practically eliminate spam altogether.

The downside is that you will get less comments. As like 30% of people who comment on blogs only do it for the free backlink. Another cool feature, the comments get posted on Facebook. This means random Facebook users might see Jill’s comment on Jill’s wall and decide to add to the conversation. Really powerful feature, it can practically start Facebook conversations which will appear on your blog.

P.S. If you’d like to learn how to explode your blog’s traffic, dominate the search engines and even receive thousands of daily visitors straight from sites like Facebook, put your email in the form on the right!

Probably the most important thing you can do to dramatically increase your productivity is to become a single-tasker. This simply means focusing on only one task at a time and eliminating all possible distractions.

Multi-tasking is impossible for tasks that require your actual attention and instead of focusing on two things at the same time, what actually happens in your brain is that your attention switches from one task to the other, sometimes in rapid succession.

Giving yourself only one single task to focus on, at any given time, greatly increases your productivity, which simply means that you can get more done in less time, by single-tasking.

Another big problem is the availability of so many distractions, online (e.g. e-mail notifications, twitter, facebook, forums etc.). These can take a heavy toll on your ability to focus, which is why eliminating all distractions is an important part of single-tasking.

Clean up your desktop and your physical workspace to help your focus. The more clutter you have in your browser, on your desktop and in your physical surroundings, the more difficult it is to really focus.

The second important factor for all work you do online is that you eliminate notifications. Anything that notifies you of new e-mails, new tweets, new facebook messages etc. is a focus-killer.

Good Links:

Time Blocking: Create a set amount of time for each major task you want to complete.

The important factors for effective time blocks are: Starting out with a clear intention about the outcome of the task at hand, measuring a fixed amount of time for the task (using a countdown timer) and then doing a very quick review, after the time has run out.

Time blocking can be quite a difficult habit to get into, but it helps with your focus and the “deadline” element in time blocking also helps you work more efficiently, so it’s definitely worth it.

Good Links:

Here is a A Simple Framework

  1. Long term goals.
  2. Important projects.
  3. Urgent tasks.
  4. Maintenance tasks.

Every day you need to get out there and promote yourself, your blog post, articles or offers, what ever it is that you do. You need to get out ther and promote your business. If you blog like me you definitely includes using Twitter and Facebook to further grow awareness and attention to your posts.

Promotion of your content is crucial because it is the only way you will be seen. Believe me when especially if you are just starting out you need to be developing content almost every day if or better yet 5 times a week. Then you need to do whatever is needed to bring  attention to the content of the day.

If you’ve got tasks due that are deadline-specific and really really REALLY deadline specific, those are third in my day. Why not first? Because I’m going to get them done, but if I work on lead gen and project contributions, then I know that I’ve got air coverage (lead gen) and ground support (project teams working), so I can focus on this very specific sniper-level task.

That’s fairly close to how I manage my family life, though the deadline work (urgent tasks) usually have to get handled on the schedule that imposes itself in the family world. Meaning, if my kids miss the bus, I can’t put that off until the 3rd thing I worry about in a day. But beyond that, even when putting my family first, I look at our long term perspective on things and try to balance them. Time at home is important. Buying a new home that fits the family is even more important in the longer run, so I add it to the balance.

P.S. I hope this helps you in developing good habits for improving productivity in your online business. Anyway, let me know your thoughts, comments and questions in the box below.
